A hands-on leader, Madhav has spent his career building and launching consumer products that make life better-photography, art, books, and health and wellness. As President of Seasoned, he is passionate about building a community that will change the economic outcomes of people in the restaurant industry. An "executive chef" of sorts, he is responsible for setting strategy and working with cross-functional teams to drive business results. Madhav has held senior executive positions at Lynda.com (acquired by LinkedIn), CellScope, Alibris, Art.com, and Kodak.
Madhav holds an MBA from Simon School of Business, University of Rochester, a PhD and an MS in materials science from the California Institute of Technology, and a B.Tech in metallurgy from the Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur.
An avid photographer, Madhav spends his free time traveling the world capturing its wonders, tasting all manner of local cuisine-most recently yak butter tea in Tibet-and playing golf.
Jim has roughly 35 years of experience in the recruiting or talent acquisition space. He’s gone from recruiting “on paper and in papers” to “on-line and in systems”. Starting with his last 16 years of his 21-year military career in the Air Force’s Recruiting Command and continuing on with the last 18+ years in the highly-volatile, fast growing, foodservice and restaurant industries. While most of this time has been in leadership positions, he prides himself on maintaining the art of his profession and continues to actively recruit for opening positions and staying current with effective methods of sourcing candidates. As Director of Talent Acquisition for two fast growing foodservice companies, he’s forte has been building high volume – low budget recruiting models, with efficient resources and leading effective teams. He stays current with trends and technology; and constantly challenges the status-quo. He’s currently the Director of Recruiting for SSP America, the fastest growing F&B company in airport concessions.
Born into the restaurant business as the son of Jorge Cortez, Pete Cortez started his career drying silverware at the tender age of 8. From bussing tables to managing the privately held restaurants and real estate company that employs more than 600 team members, Pete has worked in every aspect of La Familia Cortez Restaurants, learning the business from the ground up. As Chief Operating Officer, his primary role is to shape the company’s organizational structure, growing the company through innovation and efficiency while incorporating the history, culture and traditions that have made the family business one of the largest Hispanic-owned companies in the United States.
